A variety of continuing education classes are offered at Puckett EMS Training Center to support our personnel and the personnel of supporting agencies and facilities. Many resources are available to provide a wide spectrum of topics to Nurses, Paramedics, EMTs and First Responders. Our classes are designed to challenge and engage the most seasoned personnel.

- 48-Hour EMS Refresher Course
- This 48-hour, modular course is designed to provide EMS providers of all levels with the appropriate refresher training necessary for their particular level of certification. EMT-Basics attend the first 24 hours, EMT-Intermediates attend the first 36 hours and EMT-Paramedics attend the program in its entirety.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Provider and Provider Renewal
- This 16-hour training program is designed to teach the fundamentals of advanced emergency cardiac care utilizing a standard body of knowledge and clinical skills developed by the American Heart Association. The ACLS provider renewal program is four hours in length and is recommended every two years.
- ACLS Recertification
- This 8-hour training program is designed as a refresher course for those individuals that have already successfully passed the ACLS course but need to renew their certification.
- AED Training (For Public Access and Job Defibrillation Programs)
- This program provides the essential training for businesses or other entities to implement an early defibrillation program to increase the chances of survival should a cardiac arrest occur on-site. In three hours, this program teaches the fundamentals of the "chain of survival," the essentials of incorporating AED use into basic life support (CPR) and the safe operation of the AED during the management of the cardiac arrest. Hands-on training with the AED is a primary component of this program.
- AMLS (Advanced Medical Life Support)
- This new 17-hour course is an in-depth study of medical emergencies designed for paramedics, nurses and physicians. It was developed by the National Association of EMTs and the National Association of EMS Physicians. The curriculum is designed with a minimum amount of lecture to allow ample time for hands-on, practical skill assessment and management training. Its goal is to present an integrated, practical approach to the assessment and care of the adult patient during common medical emergencies.
- Basic (EKG) Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation
- Designed for the health care professional, this course prepares the participant to take ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), if formal training in ECG interpretation has not been taken. Others with an interest in basic electrocardiography may attend as well.
- Introduction to 12-Lead Electrocardiography for the EMS Provider
- This 8-hour program introduces the EMS provider to the fundamentals of the 12-lead ECG. The EMS provider is familiarized with the various ECG leads and anatomical regions of the heart that they examine, as well as how to obtain these leads. Some basic assessment parameters are covered, with an emphasis on AMI recognition. Topics covered include axis determination, bipolar vs. unipolar leads, wide complex tachycardia, AMI and ischemia. A hands-on lead placement laboratory is included. Participants must have had basic ECG interpretation training prior to taking this course.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Provider and Provider Renewal
- The two-day PALS provider program was developed by the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics and is geared for the development of cognitive and psychomotor skills necessary for resuscitation and stabilization of the infant or child in respiratory failure, shock or arrest. The PALS renewal program is 4 hours in length and is recommended every two years.

- PPC (Pediatric Prehospital Care)
- This two-day PPC provider program is the most current and comprehensive covering the prehospital care of the pediatric patient currently available. Based on the National Standard Curriculum, the program is designed for both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support providers of all experience levels. It features a unique assessment/problem-based approach to both traumatic and medical prehospital pediatrics. PPC is authored by The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.

- PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support)
- This two day course authored by The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in cooperation with The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. PHTLS is designed for both Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support providers of all experience levels. PHTLS provides a strong foundation of fundamental knowledge for the student in the care of the trauma patient. This includes kinematics, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and assessment. The course prepares the student to identify and manage traumatic situations while emphasizing the need for rapid transport to an appropriate facility.

- Snakebite Class
- This 4 hour course is designed for both prehospital and hospital healthcare providers at all levels. The program is endorsed by the Region III EMS Office for 4 hours of CEUs. The class is taught by Chris Harper NREMTP and herpetologist. The course reviews the different types of venom, its effects and the currently available prehospital and hospital therapies. The class has a strong emphasis on the locally indigenous venomous snakes. Chris has lectured at GSU and is published in the field of herpetology and has the largest venomous reptile website in the world. Chris brings several of the actual reptiles into the classroom.

- CCEMTP
- This comprehensive Critical care Transport course offers the foundation that will prepare the paramedic or nurse to become a Critical Care Transport specialist. Instructors include Physicians, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, and Paramedics experienced in critical care. This intensive 80+-hour course is conducted as a satellite of Medical College of Georgia, who is licensed to provide the course by University of Maryland, Baltimore County. - TNCC
- The Trauma Nurse Core Course is an advanced trauma certification course developed by the Emergency Nurses Association. This 16-hour course covers mechanisms of injury and in-depth nursing assessment and care of trauma patients. The course is intended for registered nurses with at least 1 year of Emergency Department experience. Further information about the course is available at www.ena.org.
