Puckett Ambulance is proud to announce that five Puckett team members have been awarded the Dr. Joseph E. Simon Pediatric Award of Excellence. The honor was presented during the Georgia EMS Association awards reception in Atlanta.
Congratulations to Puckett award winners Paramedic Kody Odom, Paramedic Mandy Allen, Paramedic Jackie Overby, EMT-Advanced Tiffany Casey, and EMT-Advanced Matthew Marshall.
“The call that won the award was nothing short of amazing,” said William Pitt, Director of Operations for Tennessee/North Georgia.
Crew members responded to a call for a woman in active labor. When they arrived, they found the woman had just delivered her baby, two months premature. The infant was unresponsive.
The Puckett team took immediate action to resuscitate the child. “The crew members calmly and superbly treated the baby and mother, eventually transporting both to Erlanger Hospital,” said Pitt.
“With the crew members’ resuscitation efforts, the baby regained pulses after CPR, warming and intubation. And after weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit, the baby has been discharged home – healthy and with no deficits. Without a doubt, the Puckett crew helped save the life of this baby, and it doesn’t get much better than that for those of us in EMS.”
